The ideal glass is different for every type of wine. Yet they all have one thing in common. It is a glass on a high foot. This ensures that the temperature of the wine is not affected by hands. Another characteristic of a wine glass is the chalice. However, this differs per glass in width and shape. The shape and width of the calyx often reveal the type of wine the glass is intended for.

Red wine glasses

The glasses with a wider calyx are generally intended for red wine. This ensures that enough oxygen can reach the wine and that there is enough space to roll the wine. Another feature of these "red wine glasses" is that they are tapered. This ensures that the aromas remain in the glass. However, these glasses are not suitable for every type of red wine. Younger and lighter red wines are sometimes better served in a narrower glass. And there are many more exceptions. Just contact us for advice.

White wine glasses 

Wine glasses with a narrow spout are often referred to as "white wine glasses". These are often suitable for white wine (of course), but also for rosé. Rosé and white wine do not need to breathe. The narrow glass ensures that the wine remains cool longer and the taste comes into its own.
