Commercial champagne glasses, what kinds are there?

Of course it is important that the champagne glasses your guests drink, match the style of your hospitality business. Maybe even more important, is that they like the champagne. The kind of glass can contribute to this. To let your guests enjoy champagne or another kind of sparkling wine, it is important that they drink it from the right glass. Although this can vary per type, there are some general aspects you can take into account. Below you can read about the flûte, coupe and a kind of mix between the two. These are the types of champagne glasses we sell. Would you like customised advice? Then please contact us.

Coupe Champagne glasses

Until the middle of the twentieth century, the coupe was the most popular champagne glass. It is probably also the most special glass to drink champagne from. The coupe is retro and exudes luxury. But not every champagne lover swears by the coupe; the bubbles evaporate relatively quickly and the wide shallow glass is not ideal for preserving the aromas. Nevertheless, the coupe has been gaining popularity again in recent years. One of our favourite coupes is the Vitta Coupe of Royal Leerdam. It shows that a simple Coupe still looks very elegant.

Flûte Champagne Glasses

The beautiful, narrow flûte is generally better for the aromas of the champagne than the coupe. The bubbles last longer and because of the long stem, the champagne is not easily warmed by the hand. Yet there is also criticism of the flûte. Some say that the flûte is too narrow to do justice to all the aromas. The flûte comes in an elegant version such as the Melodia Champagne Flute, but also in a more standard version such as the Perception Champagne Flute.

A compromise between flûte and coupe

Connoisseurs who find both not ideal as a champagne glass often choose a compromise. A cross between the flûte and the coupe resembles a standard wine glass. An example is the Expert collection Champagne coupe. A standard wine glass is sometimes also mentioned as the best glass from which to drink champagne. Which glass do you prefer?
